POD Points are available in two different ranges. A wall mounted single outlet, and a twin outlet post for high traffic areas.

The Growing Electric Car network

The uptake of electric vehicles has drastically increased in the recent years something that can be attributed to the green initiative. In order to encourage further growth in the industry, there have been calls to expand the electric car network. With the help of the government and other partners, the future is certainly bright.

Throughout UK, the electric vehicle charge point network is currently going through some major upgrades that seek to expand the network. By the end of 2013, there were over 9,000 publicly funded electric charging points throughout the UK. The expansions are aimed at keeping up with growing number of electric vehicles on our roads today.

Statistically, reports have indicated that 40% of hybrid cars have so far been sold compared to last years. The growth is expected to continue as estimates suggest that by 2030, all electric and hybrid cars will make up to 25% of all the vehicles in the UK.

We pride ourselves for receiving an OLEV accreditation from the UK renewable authorities which allows us to install free hybrid/electric car chargers to homes across the UK.

What has been our role in all this?

The uptake of electric vehicles has drastically increased in the recent years something that can be attributed to the green initiative. In order to encourage further growth in the industry, there have been calls to expand the electric car network. With the help of the government and other partners, the future is certainly bright.

The initiative is aimed at helping the government reach its 2020 renewable targets and benefit homes too. The project is government funded and we are basically tasked with installing the charging devices known as ‘POD Points’. We’ve work closely with BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Yesss Electrical and Pod Point to ensure the success of this initiative.

Currently, we have our engineers working tirelessly to install these POD Points in households in and beyond Lincolnshire. Besides installing in household, we also do installation of commercial charging units in supermarkets, golf clubs, and schools among others.

Once you have purchased your Electric Vehicle we can install a home charge unit for free (Unlike others charging £115.00)

The process was a success and after months of installing the chargers, we went ahead and purchased an electric car to try it out. We visited Nissan to see what was on offer and we are now proud owners of the Nissan Leaf UK. The car has been of great service to us as we’ve gone with it on tours around the country in order to keep up with ‘POD Point’ demands.

What does the future hold?

Now that the electric highway is here with us, travelling in an electric car should not be a problem. As we speak, over half of UK’s service stations brag of having a charging point. Electric car drivers can now drive confidently knowing very well that they don’t have to deal with the so called ‘range anxiety

With the increased demand for more electric cars, some problems are relating to electric overhaul were expected.
To counter this, a number of smart solutions have been designed.
Alan Gooding, the Commercial Director and Co-Founder of Smarter Grid Solutions says,
” What we have installed is software that monitors in real time, on the level of sub-seconds, the electricity flow through parts of the London network and when the electricity network becomes congested or under stress, the software asks the electricity charging stations to reduce their consumption.
